"Why I shouldn't take my life." This question was presented to Kids Help Phone by a young man and answered by one of our professional counselors. Ask why I shouldn't take my life. I mean, it's really worth going through this for almost my whole life. I can't stand it anymore. I don't want to go back to my old ways and I'm thinking of doing it anyway. They call me names of my parents. I'm intimidated by the bus and school. I'm thinking of hurting and killing myself. I don't know what to do. I'm lost and I'm very isolated. I just want someone to worry. I have someone but they're not there every day. I talked to the deputy director and teachers about harassment and they didn't care. I told my parents, but they didn't care if they deserved it. I just want to go. Why shouldn't it be difficult? I mean, it would be easier to take my life instead of handling this. I can't want to finish it. Please give me some advice because as much as I want to hurt or kill myself there's something inside me telling me not to. Please, just help me. I need more skills to cope. I'm so proud of you to come. I can hear how hard things are for you right now. I see you've tried to get help in the past but you didn't care about anyone. I can't imagine how frustrated it made you feel after you had the courage to finally get there. You seem to feel like your parents and school have disappointed you. As bad as you feel right now I just want you to know that suicide or car damage is not the answer. I know you can feel there's no other way to make the pain stop, but trust me. There are other ways to change and improve your situation and you deserve the support you are losing at this time. Even though you're feeling so lonely right now doesn't mean you have to deal with this for yourself. Just talking can help you see that there are other options in your life even if you can't see that right now. Please don't stop coming until you find someone to help you. If you tried the vice director and felt it didn't help. Then maybe talking to the director could help. You can also try to talk to the other school teachers until you find one that listens to you and helps you. If there are counselors at your school, please come to them. You can even contact your parents again. If that doesn't work, have you thought of talking to an aunt, uncle or grandfather? If you have a supportive friend at school or on the bus, try to stay close to them. Alway lets the bus driver or adults in the area know what's going on. Bullying has a way to kill your trust in yourself because after a while you start believing what you're saying. I have a feeling you feel like you don't have to turn. So if you still have thoughts of suicide, please contact the people I mentioned and tell them. It's okay to go to a hospital or call 911 if you're fighting to keep you safe. I also invite you to call Kids Help Phone if you feel you can't stay safe. If you just want to talk, we're here for you too.
